Tip #2: Consider an Older Pet

Everyone loves puppies and kittens - and how could you not? They’re adorable! Puppies and kittens tend to go fast in shelters and at rescues because of how sought after they are year round. Often times, adult and senior pets sit in shelters for a long time. If you are someone who is looking for a companion, but work full time or have a busy schedule, an older pet is ideal for you. Adult and senior pets bring in just as much love as puppies, but require far less training and attention than puppies and kittens. If you are a first time dog owner, an adult dog may also be ideal, as they are often already housebroken and know a few basic commands.
